It’s important to spend time with your friends. Far and wide, ones round the corner or those certain mates you see once in a blue moon but it feels like nothings changed. That, is what RSVP feels like every time.

The quiet village of Bidford. A small town with its stones walls and curated planters, it is much like any other pretty English town. Except for last Sunday, when even the sounds of the local football league was drowned with the sound of flat-fours ringing out across the black country. Those friends from all corners of the UK, met in a carpark by a river.

From a stunning nearly all original split Type 1 to a handful of late models, the whole culture was represented. Cal-Looks and Stock, Survivors and Completely Rebuilt – it was there for all to see. Also, it was brilliant to see a boost in the number of Porsches attending this year, with a handful of 911’s and 912’s out and about. The best part about this show? It’s completely free. Organised and set-up by the amazing crew over at RSVP for anyone and everyone to attend – and, the awards.

Handpicked from the crowd, a trio of VW’s that represented the range of the community. The beautiful unrestored, all black 1952 Splitscreen Beetle picking up the Peoples Choice Award while the Best Car was won by the ’59 Beetle. Finally, the Best Bus award which went to the brilliant executed ’55 Type 2 Split ‘Smutny’.

We just want to say a massive thank you to the entire RSVP crew for putting on this incredible free show which is so important to all the whole community and, means that we can go see all our mates again.

Here’s a few words from the RSVP Crew:

Enjoying some of the last rays of summer, the annual RSVP BBO was once again held by the river in Bidford-on-Avon.

This laid-back affair attracted well over 120 air-cooled VWs and saw three trophies
awarded – Peoples’ Choice (voted for by all attendees) Baddest Bus and Raddest Ride (voted by RSVP).

A superb day was had by all who made the trip to this relaxed combo of food, friends and VWs.

The RSVP boys want to send a heartfelt thank you to everyone for coming along and making the day such a huge success.

See you in 2023.
